Great piece of equipmentThursday, February 03, 2005
I got mine on eBay for about $75 bucks. It had everything but the manual, and the software. That was all easily downloadable on the internet though. The software isn't too bad, actually. I originally got it to record lectures off of the internet, as I am going to law school online, but it doesn't seem to be so keen on doing that. It may work in the end though, I just haven't spent too much time on it. It didn't come with the headphones or the remote, either, but oh well. What do you want for $75? I think its a beautiful machine, by the way, and the sound is first-rate. It has locked up a couple of times, but that's been more my fault than anything. It will hold a ton of songs, too. So far, I'm pretty happy, but if I had spent $200 or so for it, I might have felt a bit different

Great player... get new software, ASAP!Sunday, September 19, 2004
I'd give this thing a 4.5 if I could... most people are giving this nice little player low marks for the requirement of using Philips' crap-tastic DMM software to transfer files. I almost didn't buy it for that reason, but I found that the people who make the dBPower Amp converter software also make a replacement program to use for transferring files onto the HDD120.
The Sveta Portable Audio program seems to do everything that the DMM didnt... including the ability to transfer my own files to and from my device/PC. It easily allows organization and playlist creation as well as letting you rip CDs directly onto the device.
My local Best Buy had these on clearance for $149... I'd highly recommend getting one at that price if you can!

This device looks so cool, but the software works so suck. I couldn't agree more with the 1 or 2 star rated. I got pretty much the same problems. the file transfering and the software is so outdated and awkward!!! awkkkk... It takes too long to launch the library before you can transfer files. it stucks and closes the process as soon as it hits certain files. You have to remove that file first and start it over. It such a waste of time. I personally have seen so many problems from Phillips products. Are they going to improve their credibility or what...!!???
