4 of 5 stars  Not as bad as I first thought...
Tuesday, December 30, 2003
When I first heard this CD, I was disapointed because I was expecting another "Still Standing" and this is clearly not it. After listening to it again a year later, I found that I am really startin to dig this CD! For anyone who said it was disapointing, I encourage them to listen to it again.

2 of 5 stars  Disappointing
Monday, October 06, 2003
I didn't always like hip hop. As a matter of fact, at one point, I used to not even consider it music. Then someone slipped me "Still Standing". It was like my eyes opening and seeing for the first time. They were actually saying something. These were 4 MC's, held together by ideals and talent. The beats were sophisticated, and the rhymes were amazing. My eyes opened. I quickly bought Soul Food, which was more raw than Still Standing, but equally excellent. Very quickly, I became completely immersed in hip hop. Mos Def, Dead Prez, Common, Outkast, Public Enemy, The Liks, Hyrogliphics, Ultramagnetic MC's, Black Star, Rakim, Pete Rock and Cl Smooth. The Roots, The Coup, Pharoah Monche, the list just goes on and on and on. All of the sudden, hip hop was dominating this goth boys record collection.

From that standpoint, this album is just bad. The beats sound more like the No Limit stuff than Organized Noise. The lyrical Content, is awful. This is the sound of 4 men making a decision to make an album that will sell units. Out side from the excellent "Chain Swang", this album is mediocre in every way shape and form. Listening to these guys betray their roots is painful, mainly because as my introduction to Hip Hop, I consider them the fathers of my love for the music. It's been a few years now, and Cee Lo made an Amazing album. I hope these guys can find their way back together, and make more amazing music together, because if Wold Party is the final chapter to the Goodie Mob, then it is a sad story of how good music can be ignored.

4 of 5 stars  A REALLY different album, but tight nonetheless
Sunday, September 28, 2003
First off, I would like ot say that I agree with Jess Kroll that I listen to Goodie Mob to invoke thought. In their lyrics though, I dont agree that there were any hypocricies or anything like that. In reference to the cee lo verse about how It would be nice to have mo' but I kinda like being po', at least I know what my friends here fo'". I can perfectly agree with Cee-Lo on that one. It's the usual case of "mo' money, mo' problems." if you keep your income at a middle-class level, then you know your friends arent there to grab money offa you, you know that some, if not most of them, are truly your friends. I personally found that statement to be free of any form of hypocrisy.

That aside, I personally found this album to be not as good as their last two, but quite good nonetheless. I sure as hell wants to make me dance, and it sure as hell makes me think too. Street Corner stood out the most for me, cause it's one of those thought invoking tracks again, though I admit the hook is annoying. There wasnt really one track I didn't enjoy. And, one of the funniest tracks to listen to off World Party would be Cutty Buddy.

5 of 5 stars  goodie got it

If you like real hip-hop, then you like goodie, and you can't get enough of this world party. Classic rhymes to smoke, ride, or make sweet love to. Cop that disc!

4 of 5 stars  Innovative Hip-Hop

The first time i heard trough the whole album, I got a bit dissepointed. But after listening on it more I started to get the feel of the music. I think they have lost some of their old style. Be down-to-earth. Bu Cee-Lo is a big playa. His words come out in such many different ways. It's sick. I've noticed that Nelly have got some of his style from Cee-Lo.
