Not worth the money Friday, December 17, 2004
First of all on the positive side, kudos to Amazon for their fast service. But in regard to this product, I have to say its not worth the amount I paid for it. The problem is that you need to spend an additional $20.00 for an adapter or spend lots of money on batteries. And you can't use just any adapter, but you need to buy a specific one from Casio. Honestly, I think this product is probably worth about $50.00. Like I said, its not bad but....

Does an OK job but not great.Wednesday, September 29, 2004
I got this for our frequent power outages here in the Florida Keys. It pulls in 4 VHF stations clearly and 10 UHF. The picture is a very grainy looking and it takes a lot of moving the little set around and moving the antenna to find the best position for good reception for each station, at least indoors where I will be watching it the most. However when there is no electricity and you really want to see TV this may be worth the effort. The sound quality is very good. And the tuning is excellent. No need to fiddle with turning a dial like you do with a portable radio as these tiny sets used to be designed. You just push a button and it automatically scans the frequencies and stops each time it finds a staion.
It is reasonably lightweight and will fit nicely in my purse to take to the gym. I can't imagine settling down to watch this for several hours unless you want some serious eyestrain. You can't make out ANY picture outdoors with any amount of natural light. One reviewer here said he hooks his up to the VCR. There is no way to hook this to a VCR! And I really wish they had given it a much nicer appearance. After all this is a modern spaceage marvel of circuitry so why make it so dumpy looking? But for emergency purposes it should be OK. I gave it three stars because the appearance could be better and I am not greatly pleased with the picture quality or the way you have to keep moving it to find the best reception. However when there is no electricity it will be nice to have this.

great TV for the moneyFriday, December 26, 2003
Casio's portable color TV-980 is a great, inexpensive option for road trips or places you need a TV. It is small enough to fit in most jacket pockets and the antenna picks up stations well. In fact, I can pick up more stations with this TV than with my rabbit ears at home.
The screen is a passive-matrix LCD display. It is sharp and clear, and the colors are rather vivid. It is important to keep the brightness at the right level, otherwise the display is difficult to read. It is also tough at times to read small print on the screen, the display is clear but not when it has to be read that close.
The television is powered by 4 AA batteries, which will give you about 4 hours of viewing time. There is also an AC adapter option, however, you will have to either buy this separately, or get this TV in the package which includes a case and the adapters. For the money, this TV is a great choice.
