I hope you know your way around a computer!Sunday, April 24, 2005
Funny, I dont see any comments below about how insanely DIFFICULT it is to install this card. And dont look to the manual, it wont help.
To install this board, the first thing you must do is go into the setup BIOS and disable the onboard audio-this is not in the instructions. Then you may install this Sound Blaster only to find that your system says it is working properly, but you still dont have any sound. After days of screwing around with this thing I got this wonderful advice back from Creative Labs tech support..."uninstall all other PCI devices along with the sound card, then reinstall the sound card first. Test your sound, and if it still doesnt work, uninstall and move to another slot." HUH?!? Well, that's exactly what it took, uninstalling EVERYTHING and starting all over.
I must say that the sound is amazing now that I've got this thing working, but I also upgraded to Klipsch 5.1 speakers so I wont give all the credit to Creative Labs. And dont expect any assistance from their tech support on weekends, or evenings...they keep bankers hours. Too bad, I could use some help diagnosing and fixing this constant "popping" sound I hear now about ever 5-10 minutes.
I never had these kind of problems with my Hercules Digifire which was plug and play and gave me years of beautiful troublefree service. Not worth the trouble. POP!

Audigy is tops....Saturday, April 23, 2005
Yes, there are some sound cards in the same price range as this Audigy 2 that would be sufficient for most people and their uses. However if you are a gamer, have a decent set of surround sound speakers, and like to enjoy the "environments" of action games, then an Audigy 2 is for you. It allows for endless customization of sound, and has all the features like EAX advanced sound that your old sound card probably doesnt. It's also got a firewire jack to go along with the multi speaker inputs. The directions are simple and straghtforward for installation, and I wouldnt forsee many problems. If your looking for a great sound card at the right price, this is for you. If you want more inputs and features, go with the Audigy 2 Platinum edition, or the Platinum PRO.

Great Buy!Wednesday, March 30, 2005
Its funny because I have one of the cheapest 5.1 speakers on the market, but they sound amazing due to this sound card, it is a must have if you want good pc sound. I advise not to get the pro model of this because this model of the zs is definately the best value for features. Everything is good from the bundled software to EAX HD game support (flat out amazing).

Awesome CardMonday, March 21, 2005
Listen up everyone! This sound card is very very good. I recently installed this in my PC and have had no problems with it.
It also helps to have a sweet digital surround to compliment it as well. The THX, and EAX and Extended dts ES Surround does this card justice. I totally recommend this card to anyone who wishes to step it up from their factory installed sound card.
