Product Description
Delonghi RT200 2-Slice Retro Toaster
Description
Elvis would have loved this toaster. With a brushed-metal finish like a customized '57 Chevy, chrome lift-levers and browning-control knobs, and control dials like old-time radios, it's lovingly and wittily retro. Functionally, however, it's 21st century. Two large slots, each 5-1/2 by 1-1/4 inches, handle bagels, English muffins, and thick gourmet breads as well as conventional bread. Push a button, and bagels or English muffins toast only on one side. Push another button, and frozen bread automatically toasts a little longer to account for defrosting time. Slide open a crumb tray on the side and clean up with no hassle. --Fred Brack

1 of 5 stars  Not so good

I got this toaster cause it was a good brand and on sale. I thought it looked really nice and it does go well with the other appliances in my kitchen, but it doesn't work worth a damn. SInce day one my toast has been unevenly toasted. And even at the highest setting, my bread is more slightly warm and over-dry than actually toasted. I like the bagel setting, but don't use it because I always forget which direction to put the bagel in... Pretty much, I really wish I had not bought this toaster. I am amazed that the company still sells it actually.

5 of 5 stars  One year later I still love it

My roommate and I use this toaster daily and I've never had problems with it. The material is light but very sturdy. I actually dropped it down my stairs when I moved and it still looks and works great. I love all the features which are easy to use if you take about 30 seconds to read the instructions. Delonghi must have replaced the handles because the one on mine is metal. I plan on buying another just like this after mine dies but I suspect that won't happen for quite a while.

2 of 5 stars  Great look, if that's all you want

I gave this toaster a 2 star rating because it does look great, which bumped it from one star. However, from day one all it does is burn anything that goes into it, even at it's lowest setting. Nice bagel setting but it too burns the one side to a crisp. Not worth the money and I'm embarrassed I spent so much on a toaster thinking the DeLonghi name was worth it. It wasn't. Going back to a $20 toaster.....

2 of 5 stars  Buy it for looks, not for function

The other bad reviews about this toaster are all true, it really is just a gimmick. Buy this toaster for looks if you'd like to have it in your kitchen, but also buy another cheap ten dollar toastermaster toaster from kmart or walmart and use that to make your actual toast behind the scenes--believe me, the toast will come out a lot better and I bet the ten dollar toaster will even last longer!

5 of 5 stars  Read the Instructions First - You'll Love It

This toaster does everything. We've had it at least 5 years. If the toast comes up and you can't reach it, push up on the handle and it's easy to grab. If you only like bagels toasted on one side, you can put the halves in, push the "bagel" button, and voila! your bagels are toasted on one side (be sure the cut sides are facing out). The bread is frozen? Keep it on the toasting temp you like and push the "Frozen" button. The toaster gives you your toast just the way you want. Easy to clean. Should be advertised better. Great bet!
