great little grinderTuesday, May 10, 2005
We just love this coffee grinder! It is about time someone made one that could easily be taken apart for cleaning. It grinds well and is not too loud. This is the second one I have purchased. It also looks good - which is a nice bonus.

When I frist got this grinder, I was so excited. It looks beautiful, easy to clean and the cup was removable. However, it did not even last two months. I noticed it was getting louder each day. One day, it started smoking and stopped! Luckily, I was able to return it. I will never buy this again.

I had the same experience as others here: After six months of use, the thing started sounding like a 737 on takeoff, which was a major bummer, because, as others have noted, it's a nicely designed grinder, very easy to clean, and the least messy of any I've ever used.
I contacted Cuisinart and the replaced the stainless grinding bowl assembly for free, but the loud noise continues, and I share others' frustration that the grind is just not consistent -- big chunks mixed with fine powder mixed with a few whole beans here and there. Sadly, I'll be replacing this with something with a little more oomph.

Sadly, not recommendedSunday, February 20, 2005
This grinder looks great, has some great features, but unfortunately lacks in the most important area. The grind!
It has a removable grinding bowl, which is very convenient, especially since it's dishwasher safe. I love that feature. Makes cleaning easy. This grinder also looks great. I love the stainless steel, even if it's a bit larger that other grinders. It's also fairly quiet...at least relative to my last two grinders.
Now, the grind. This grinder takes longer than others I've owned and is not that consistent. Sure, it holds a lot of beans at once...one of it's selling points to me. But, as it grinds a full load, it doesn't grind evenly. The fine grounds get packed down below the blades and the top grounds are too coarse. Even with a small load though, it has trouble creating very finely ground coffee....and it takes a while.
Sad to say, my final words are, "not recommended". If I can find the receipt, I'll be returning this one.

Outstanding for the look & price...very affordable grinder.Monday, January 31, 2005
If you are looking for a grinder that will grind your beans uniformly & at a specific grind, then you'll need to spend at least $100 on a more advanced model.
If you are just wanting fresh ground coffee every morning & don't mind that your beans may be a blend of fine & coarser ground coffee, then this model is outstanding for the look, size & price. It does it's job & it still makes coffee taste far better than buying previously ground.
If you're wanting something inexpensive, convenient & easy to clean...this coffee grinder will serve each of those purposes.
For only paying $30 at Dillard's two years ago, and using this grinder on average of 6 times per week (low estimate), it still grinds my coffee beans the same as it did on the first day of purchase. So, I can't complain. It is a much better purchase than it's matching coffee maker.
If you're looking for a grinder that is even cheaper (comes in black & other colors) Capressa (mp?) makes a model that is only $20 & works about the same, but for smaller amounts of coffee. I purchased one for a family member & they love it, but they use theirs much less than I use my Cuisenart.
This makes the perfect first coffee grinder (for up to 12 cups); when you don't want to spend over $100.
