Ernest for President, Vern!!Monday, April 04, 2005
I've must have watched this movie 500 times and just cant get enough of `ol Ernest P. How could a man THIS funny be gathered to jesus at such a young age is beyond my understandin. The turtle should have won an oscar, too, that's one smart reptile! They can't do HALF the stuff that little guy did here in Alabama. I tell ya, if Ernest Worrel was MY camp counselor, I'd a turned out a whole lot better than I am now.
I'm trying to collect the whole series and the only one I'm lacking so far is the first (and greatest) "Dr. Otto and the Riddle of the Gloom Beam." In this classic, Jim Varney (Ernest, in case you didn't know he is an actor just PLAYING the character Ernest) plays 5 different characters and REALLY gets to show off his skills. A true master of the art. I cry every time he sings that song about rain.

Jim Varney is great in his Earnest roles. this is one example out of many. I laughed til I cried from this one. not only is this movie hilarious but it really goes to show you teamwork really does pay off and that you can overcome anything. not to mention the story is touching while being very funny at times. Jim deserves an academy award for this picture if he hasn't gotten one yet. the director is brilliant too

Ernest kicks ass once again!Friday, September 17, 2004
Ernest kicks unbelievable ass in this movie! Man, he rocks! This one is a classic!
In the movie, everybody hates Ernest, so somebody frames him, and the camp had enough of him. In an attempt to earn back his good name, though, he accepts the role of counselor for a group of bad boys, who Ernest believes have the potential to be good.
Unfortunately, the children tricks Ernest time and time again, but one of them ended up liking Ernest. With the help of a friend, Ernest eventually earns the love of the boys, but with the help of his innocence, he accidentally sold the camp. Now, with the boys at his side, he will fight back the evil corporation!
Corny story, huh? Well, it is presented rather well. Unlike today's children movies, which are just crappy and won't be enjoyed even by retarded children, at least Ernest Goes To Camp is enjoyable by people of all ages. The fight scene is a classic too! It makes you remember all the good movies you've watched back in the 70's and 80's. If you don't like movies from these eras and prefers the crappy movies of today, then by all means, go ahead and enjoy Gigli or Catwoman. If you actually like GOOD movies, though, then this is the movie to buy, my friend.
Man, Ernest rocks in this movie! Ernest P. Worrell (Jim Varney) is one of my favorite actors of all time! Why did he have to die? Couldn't that annoying little (...), Alex D. Linz, from Home Alone 3 have died instead?

THE FIRST ERNEST MOVIEFriday, August 27, 2004
THIS WAS THE MOVIE THAT STARTED OFF A LONG RUNNING SERIES OF ERNEST MOVIES. IN THIS ONE, ERNEST P. WORRELL [THE LATE JIM VARNEY] HAS DREAMS OF BEING A CAMP COUNSELOR. THAT DREAM COMES TRUE WHEN HE'S CALLED UPON TO LOOK AFTER SOME JUVENILE DELINQUENTS AT LAKE CHIPPAWA CAMP. FUNNY AT TIMES BUT IT'S ALSO STUPID AND SOME OF THE GAGS ARE KINDA WEAK. BY NOW, THE ERNEST MOVIES HAVE BECOME CULT FAVORITES AMONG COMEDY FANS. BUT, I CAN'T HELP BUT COMPARE THIS MOVIE TO ''MEATBALLS''. THIS MOVIE IS SIMILAR TO THAT. BUT, FOR SOME COMEDY FANS, THIS SHOULD BE FUNNY. MAKES A GREAT FAMILY FILM. FOLLOWED BY ERNEST SAVES CHRISTMAS.
