3 of 5 stars  TOO MANY SLOW SONGS
Saturday, February 19, 2005
The upbeat songs are great, even the pseduo-rap song "Dizzy" is pretty good. I never did like "Give Me One More Night" that much, but the rest of the faster songs are good. Just too many ballads. These guys could sing better than 'Nsync ever could, they should have been more popular. Oh well, we still have this album and the previous "98 degerees and Rising" album to listen to. Oh and by the way, Nick, Drew, and Jeff are the best looking of all of the boy bands put together. YUM!

The album that feature 98's #1 smash, "Give Me Just One Night (Una Noche" that was clearly released to cash in on the latin trend brought out by Jennifer Lopez & Ricky Martin (with Marc Anthony and Louie Vega cashing in right before 98*). This was rather inventive as the pop tarts "above" them (Nsync & Britney) weren't doing it at the time. Christina was already just starting.

The album also features their heavily underrated Adult Contemporary smash "My Everything." For those Jessica S. fans - the video to this featured her and all the other 98* girlfriends/wives.

My favorite song overall was their heavily overlooked single "The Way You Want Me To Do." It was an awesome club=stomper that blended the boys' smooth voices with an electronic vocoder. It was funky and different. The music video was the best as well.

The album even features Mr. Lachey rapping, along with more smooth ballads and club-stompers. The Revelation summer tour was going to be my first concert ever and I had 3rd row floor seats and they were so big they even had the Baha Men, Debelah Morgan AND Dream all as opening acts! It would've been such a great tour for me. Too bad they cancelled it.

This teaches you - buy the cd so you don't miss a thing!

5 of 5 stars  My "Revelation" to 98*... Good job, Mr. Lachey
Sunday, May 23, 2004
As if the talented and melodious and outrageous Jessica Simpson weren't enough, her sweet and gentle husband has enamored me (as an artist; let me clarify) with his unusual and also melodious voice. If his voice were just a little higher, he'd be an angel, and if it were just a little lower, he'd be a very well-known opera-singing baritone. However, the sometimes highs and lows make Mr. Lachey's voice perfect. I love guys with a voice, because that way, I wouldn't sin by being in love with them as men, but as artists.

1) Give me just one night (Una noche) - 5 / 5 - Fantástica, fabulosa, give me just one more. Me pone loca.

2) The way you want me to - 5/5 - Mr. Lachey and Mrs. Simpson - Lachey, with all due respect, can Mr. Lachey sing to me, the whole night, in my upcoming birthday? I'll pay any money because his lovely voice is worth every penny of my income!

3) Stay the night - 5/5 - But the CD's so burned-out that I can no longer play this track; at least not in my computer CD-player. Fantastic song.

4) Yesterday's letter - 5/5 - So intense and dramatic it makes my eyes watery every time I listen to it.

5) He'll Never Be (What I used to be to you) - 5/5 - Perfect for all cheaters out there. Let your mate know no one's a better lover than you are! Whether it's a man or a woman!

6) I'll Give it all - 5/5 - Yes, Nick and Drew, I'll give you all of my money for you to sing to my friends and I in the night of my birthday if I have to, no matter how much it costs.

7) My Everything - 5/5 - Mama, if this weren't a love song worthy for a mate, I'd dedicate it to you. You are my everything.

8) You Should Be Mine - 5/5 - Pablo, if I weren't as shy as I am I'd dedicate this to you and make you fall in love with me, lonesome boy. I love you.

9) You Don't Know - 5/5 - Oh, my God, Jess and Nick, you don't know you have no idea, I dreamt this morning that the two of you were autographing my Revelation and Irresistible CD's. I'm becoming more and more of a fan of yours everyday.

10) Dizzy - 5/5 - Pablo, you make me dizzy. Fabulous song.

11) The Way You Do - 5/5- Nick, no singer in this world puts passion into his music the way you do. Only Christina Aguilera and your wife can do it like you. There's no comparison between the three of you.

12) Always You and I - "Siempre tú y yo" in Spanish. Beautiful romantic song. 5/5

13) Never Giving up - 5/5 - I'm never giving up Nick and Jessica's music. I'd only do that if God asked me to. No sir.

Love,

Magaly.

3 of 5 stars  (3-1/2 stars) Good but not great
Friday, March 14, 2003
I never considered 98 Degrees to be a boy band. In fact, every music store I went into always had their albums filed under R&B, and that's really what they seem to be, evidenced by the production and harmonies. While Revelation has some good moments, it's not without its problems.

The guys still deliver on the mellow songs. "My Everything", "Stay The Night", and "You Don't Know" are excellent pieces of work. And the fast songs...well, the production on the fast songs should have been more varied, because except for "Give Me Just One Night", most of them sound the same. And "Dizzy", with its unnecessary rap, could have been left behind.

So, this album isn't a washout or anything, but it would have been better to have been able to tell the difference between the uptempo songs. The harmony is still there though, so things are still a little worthwhile.
