As a bassplayer of some 30 years, I find Soul Ballet as very melodic,progressive, and insightful into the back-beat rhythms of good toe-tapping music. Another fine job by Rick Kelly.

I have been a soul ballet fan ever since their first album "soul ballet" was released several years ago. I was simply amazed by the wonderfully composed songs in the first album. Compared to the previous 2 albums, "Vibe cinema" is still a good soul ballet album. Some of the songs are very upbeat and perfectly arranged, including "Love is the thing, Choose me, Vibe Cinema." I can only have one thing to say to all music lover out there "buy this album and you will love it."

This group/guy gets no air time on the two Jazz stations in LA/Orange County, which is one example of how mediocre they both are in their playlists. Soul Ballet is refreshingly unique from the so many monotonous saxaphone smooth jazz artists today. I don't understand how SB falls so far under the radar screen. They are no doubt one of the best "unknown" new jazz groups out there. This Vibe Cinema CD is my favorite, with Trip the Night and Soul Ballet CD's a close second and third. The tracks Strawberry Girl and Love is The Thing are incredible, Boom Booom Room, Black Sun, and One Day in My life are very, very good.
