A great soundtrack to a great movie Monday, February 21, 2005
If you loved the movie, then here is the soundtrack that runs for 46 minutes including a 6 minute long song with just music played. On this cd has some new Christmas songs and older Christmas songs perfomed by Frank Sinatra, The Andrews Sisters, Bing Crosby, which includes some of the singers performing together on a couple of the songs, and then we have some orginal songs through in sung by Tom Hanks, Steven Tyler, Josh Groban, and a duet between Matthew Hall and Meagan Moore. The teack numbers are
1. The Polar Express -- Tom Hanks
2. When Christmas Comes To Town -- Matthew Hall and Meagan Moore
3. Rockin' On Top of the World -- Steven Tyler
4. Believe -- Josh Groban
5. Hot Chocolate -- Tom Hanks
6. Spirit of the Season -- Alan Silvestri
7. Seeing is Believing -- Alan Silvestri
8. Santa Claus is Comin' To Town -- Frank Sinatra
9. White Christmas -- Bing Crosby
10. Winter Wonderland -- The Andrews Sisters
11. It's Beginning to Look Like Christmas -- Perry Como
12. Silver Bells -- Kate Smith
13. Here Comes Santa Claus (Right Down Claus Lane) -- Bing Crosby and The Andrews Sisters
14. Suite From the Polar Express -- Alan Silvestri
If you love any of these songs, singers, or this movie, you might even want to think about adding this soundtrack to your collection. But it is nice to hear some new Christmas songs on this cd like When Christmas Comes to Town. Now you might be surpised to see that Tom Hanks is lisited as a singer on here, and he does it without the usual when actors aren't known for singing, or can't sing, then most of the time somebody is paid to come in a do the singing voice of a character no matter whether the film is live action or animation.
Incredible Soundtrack but too many old songs in itTuesday, February 01, 2005
I must say Polar Express was indeed a most wondrous movie. After watching the movie, I went to get the soundtrack the next day because the music was absolutely breathtaking. What especially stands out is "When Christmas Comes To Town", featuring a wonderful duet by 2 kids with voices that are very sweet. This song captures the mood of the movie and is simply incredible. "Believe" sung by Josh Groban is another marvellous song and I simply love it.
My complaint though, is that on this cd, there are only 8 tracks which were composed for this movie. The other tracks are all from long ago and just doesn't make the cd worth it. The score by Alan Silvestri is wonderful but with the other half of the cd being old songs, I'm not sure if it is worth the price. But if you like Christmas music and like to have the feeling of Christmas, this is certainly the cd for you

The Polar Express is an excellent soundtrack and will become a Christmas classic. From traditional songs like Sinatra's "Santa Claus is Coming To Town" to Josh Groban's "Believe" this soundtrack is a joyus holiday wonder. It will be part of my Christmas music collection for many Christmas seasons to come.

"A bright shining star in the Christmas music universe!"Thursday, December 23, 2004
I am one of those people who particularly like Christmas music, especially traditional Christmas songs. Every year around this time, I end up buying 2-3 Christmas music CDs. The ones I like I keep, and the ones that I don't like I end up selling on eBay! This is most definitely a CD worth keeping! Most of the songs on this are excellent, particularly Josh Groban's "Believe", the "Suite from the Polar Express" (the film's musical score by Alan Silvestri is just awe-inspiring and gives me goosebumps whenever I hear it!) and the older tunes (Sinatra, Bing, The Andrews Sisters, Perry Como, etc.) selected for this soundtrack strike all the right chords. The combination of the classic and the new really work well together. Overall, this is just an outstanding Christmas compilation with a lot of joyful appeal. This will definitely get you in the Christmas spirit, whether you are young or just young-at-heart!
