This is the BEST version of "O, Holy Night," I have ever heard. His voice is full, strong, and beautiful!!! (My second favorite version of this song is by Josh Groban.)
One word of caution: this song is addicting!
bing crosby christmas cdWednesday, January 14, 2004
A must for Bing fans, truly one of the great voices in popular music history. Although the arrangments sound dated on many of the songs, Crosby's performances ,particularly on the World War II era"I'll Be Home for Christmas" and of course his trademark "White Christmas", are among the most memorable by any singer in the pop era.

No "White Christmas" but 10 other Cosby holiday classicsSunday, December 07, 2003
The only thing you can say against "Bing Crosby's Christmas Classics" is that it does not include his biggest hit, "White Christmas." On the other hand, you have no excuses if you do not have at least one version of the best selling song of all-time already in your holiday music library. But what this 1962 collection does provide is a reminder that der Bingle had a large repertoire of classic holiday songs. There are secular songs, "Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!" and "Frosty the Snowman," along with religious songs, such as "O Holy Night" and a nice medley of "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing/It Came Upon a Midnight Clear." The two choice selections would be "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" and "The Little Drummer Boy," the latter being especially nice for those who have to hear der Bingle's duet with David Bowie of "Little Drummer Boy/Peace on Earth" each holiday season. There was a time in this country when Bing Crosby was the voice of Christmas, and "Bing Crosby's Christmas Classics" is a nice reminder of that fact. Do not confuse this with kitsch; this is nostalgia, pure and simple.

Good quality and mostly good songs.Wednesday, December 04, 2002
As another reviewer has stated this is the only Bing Crosby Christmas music CD which has very good sound quality. However, that is mainly due to the fact that this album features songs which were recorded in the early 60's. In contrast, Bing's truly "classic" Christmas songs, including his immortal "Merry Christmas" LP (now re-titled White Christmas), were mostly recorded in the 40's and thus suffer from the techinical limitations of that era as to quality of sound.
The songs on this CD are mostly a treat to listen to and while listening you can almost see Der Bingle in a red sweater crooning away on one of his Christmas TV specials. Also, Bing's duet with David Bowie, although its mid-70's recording date is sort of anomalous, is by itself almost worth the price of the CD alone.
However, a couple of the songs are just pure CHEESE- "The Littlest Angel" and "Christmas Dinner Country Style" make me hit the skip button on my CD player everytime they start. "Christmas Dinner Country Style" is particularly grating with its "hoe-down" fiddling and a "mom" character yapping away. "The Littlest Angel" is based on a children's story, which was then used to make a marvelous animated short film, but an attempt to create song from this story is stretching things!
