Awesome love songs CD; check out the liner notesThursday, May 05, 2005
I ordered this CD for just a couple of the songs and ended up loving them all (no pun intended!). Take time to sit down with a cup of coffee and read the liner notes (you might need a magnafying glass, though) that SCC and his wife wrote about each of the songs and the CD in general. They're heartfelt and "real" and whether you've been married for one year, 20, or 50, you can relate to what they're saying and their comments also deepen the meaning of each song. It's refreshing to have a collection of relationship love songs with credit given to God for the wonder of love, and marriage. Nice!

This is really All About Love.Tuesday, July 13, 2004
This CD is great. It was written with all the right words. My girlfried (who is now my fiancé) got me this CD right after we confessed our love for each other, and the songs are heart melters. We plan to get married next June, and there will be two songs from this album played at our reception. Any people who love Christ or love another person will thoroughly enjoy this music.
Nothing but love!Thursday, April 15, 2004
Since he first appeared on the Contemporary Christian Music (CCM) scene in 1987, Stephen Curtis Chapman (SCC to his fans) has released 10 studio albums, a Christmas album, a live album, and a couple of "greatest hits" albums. He is, arguably, the most talented CCM artist, with several Grammy and Dove awards to show for it.
However, SCC has never written music for the public. Instead, he has always written what is on his heart. Because of this, SCC has delivered several different types of albums.
"All About Love" contains nothing but love songs, most of which were written for or on behalf of his wife, Mary Beth. Some of my favorites include:
"All About Love" - The title track of this album reminds us that everything in life is about love, specifically God's love for us.
"11-6-64" - A song about the day his wife was born.
"I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" - A remake of the song originally recorded by the "Proclamiers." He recorded this song at his wife's request. A very fun song.
"We Belong Together (Tarzan and Jane)" - Probably the most recognized song on this album since it was one of the main songs in the Disney animated Tarzan movie.
Although the above songs are my favorites, I like all of the songs on this album. It is obvious that SCC has written (except for the two he did not write himself) and sung these songs from his heart. This is a great CD to put in the player after a hard day and just let it speak to you.

Absolutely AmazingThursday, February 26, 2004
Steven Curtis Chapman has always delivered strong Christian lyrics coupled with outstanding music, and this disc is no exception. Christians, as well as non-Christians, will find something that speaks to their hearts. Chapman insightfully describes some of the more intimate aspects of loving another person --and by this I don't necessarily mean physical love-- without resorting to detailed sexual references or cheesy sentiment. Christians will enjoy it because his songs are about love between a man and his wife, and non-Christians will enjoy it because the songs are religious without being pushy or "preachy." This is a must-have for any person who is in love or who wants to be in love.

Disappointing....at bestFriday, December 05, 2003
As a huge SCC fan, I literally begin to crave new work from him about a year after I have metaphorically begun to wear the grooves away playing whatever the most recent album is. This one? Well this one's grooves are pretty safe at my house. I need SCC's insight into the bible and the planet and the way we seek, worship, pray and take comfort in the hope that the gospel of Jesus Christ affords us. This album is mostly a sappy compilation of love songs that any old artist could have pulled together. I expect more from SCC, so I'm still craving the next one which I hope to assume will return to his style of fabulous Christian contemporary music and which will, as always, throw one or two bones to his aspirations to write other than Christian anthems by including the occasional romantic love song that is not necessarily about the Love of God.
If you don't already own everything else SCC has ever recorded, do yourself a favor and get those instead before spending your money or your time on this one. If you do already own the rest of his music, go ahead and add this one to the collection. It is not horrible, but it is a letdown from what we've come to expect.
