Killer album - best ever in the "jazz remix" category. System of a Down and Charlie Parker. What? This is deep, original music. Cop it.

Not Worthy of BirdThursday, December 23, 2004
I don't know what this is all about, but this cd is definitely not worthy of being associated with Bird. This attempt to associate Bird's music with this modern day electronic/techno crap is a disgrace to Bird and all of the wonderful music that he made.
I'm tired of people trying to dummy down the music of great musicians like Bird by giving it some electronic age twist. It wasn't meant to be played like that. If people really want to learn about the greatness of a man like Bird then they should listen to his original recordings so that they can fully understand the man and what he was, which of course, is a true musical genious. Bird had more talent in one finger than all of the people on this disc combined could ever dream of having. The amount of talent that it takes to play the music of Charlie Parker is simply lost on today's younger generation. But then again, any knowelege of the basic fundamentals of music is lost on today's younger generation. They would rather listen to some guy with no musical talent or any knowledge of the fundamentals of music talk about how he's a pimp and a gangster and a killer and all this other image laden crap. Do a favor for all of us lovers of real music - leave great muical minds like Bird out of it okay?

BlasphemySaturday, December 04, 2004
I listen to a lot of different kinds of music, but jazz is my favorite. Bird also happens to be my favorite jazz musician. I own about 30 Bird CDs and love every note he plays. But this Bird Up Cd, if this is going to be how people find out about Bird, well...that's just sad. If that's the case, Bird's wings have been cut, and he's going down. I think of it like this: It's like painting over an orginal copy of a priceless work of art. I recommend you buy the real thing--that'll blow your mind way past where this Cd took me.

YO. I didn't know jack about jazz when I copped this. The RZA is my man. Anything he's on I'm all over it. Of course RZA's track is bangin' but the pleasant surprise was how HOT the entire album is. If this is jazz then I'm the newest jazz n!&&@ in my hood. BIRD UP beeyatch. Act like you know.
