5 of 5 stars  This is the one!

I would have to say that to me this is the greatest Social Distortion disc of all time. It still shows the Cali punk roots of Mike Ness but it taps into country, rockabilly, and pure Americana. "Ball and Chain" is a song that just about anyone can relate to, alot of us have been through those kinds of times and the song is universal and timeless. Ness may not have the strongest voice in rock, but he has one of the more honest ones.

5 of 5 stars  One of the best discs of all time....
Monday, February 07, 2005
Having listened to 'punk' for the past 20 years or so, I can say that I've been around long enough to say that there are some bands that just rock. Social Distortion is one of those bands. This is one of those records that, no matter what, can be counted on to rock. Whether you want to call it punk or rockabilly or cowpunk or whatever. These guys are great. Along with the classics Mommy's Little Monster and Prison Bound, this disk stands the test of time. I have this on LP, tape AND CD. And if you ever get the chance, see them live!! I haven't seen them since the early 90's, but what you hear on the CD is what you hear live. And they play forever (hours, well worth the price of admission). This was probably one of their best tours. Stop reading, buy the CD already.

5 of 5 stars  Another Guitar Army
Sunday, January 30, 2005
I'm not sure Social D is a punk band per se. Or rockabilly, or alternative, or what. I don't care! This band, led by the great Mike Ness is a freakin' GUITAR ARMY! They bleed raw, stinging, pounding rock. Don't compare. don't analyze, don't look beyond the energy that Social Distortion provides. Buy this CD, play it, you'll love it.

5 of 5 stars  All-Time Greatest

It doesn't matter what mood I am, it seems like I can listen to this tape (yes I still have it on tape...haven't graduated to CD yet). Mike Ness is such a hottie!

5 of 5 stars  big bad rock and roll

I tell you what, kids- this album got me into punk. In my opinion, there is not a single song or moment on this album that isn't perfect. Almost every classic Social D song is on here- "Ball and Chain", "Story of My Life", "Sick Boy", etc. etc. This is the sound of a band in their absolute prime. If you like your punk melodic, with a tinge of rockabilly, but still ballsy and brash- check out Social Distortion and buy this album.
