Fudge is back and he's discovered money in a big way. He's making his own "Fudge Bucks," dressing as a miser for Halloween and thumbing through catalogs before bed, choosing birthday and Christmas presents years in advance - much to the embarrassment of his family, especially older brother Peter, who's just starting 7th grade. But things begin to change when the Hatchers discover their long-lost relatives, The Howie Hatchers of Honolulu, Hawaii - not exactly your everyday family. With new cousins, Flora and Fauna, and 4 year old Farley Drexel - yes, that's right, another Farley Drexel! - the stage is set for a wild and wacky beginning to a new school year.

5 of 5 stars  A Double Fudge Review
Tuesday, May 03, 2005
I read the book Double Fudge! I enjoyed reading this book because I like reading funny books. The main characters are Peter, Fudge, mom, dad, Tootsie, and Uncle Feathers, their bird. I think this book is good for 5th, 6th, and 7th graders. It is for people who like reading good, funny books! I would rate this book 5 stars for humor!

1 of 5 stars  Parents be warned
Tuesday, March 22, 2005
I appreciate another reviewer's warning about the book, so I checked it myself. At the very end a childhood belief is spoiled.
The book may be very clever otherwise, but I'll keep it away from my kids. I want the magic to last as long as I can. Why did Judy Blume have to do that?

4 of 5 stars  Maybe not for younger children
Thursday, March 03, 2005
This book is wonderful, and I highly recommend it and the whole Fudge series to kids ten and up. However, parents of younger children might want to read the last few pages before giving it to younger children to read. Suffice it to say that something my eight-year-old son believed would have been dispelled, had he read that far. The reading level of the book is not beyond that of many seven- and eight-year-olds, but (in my opinion) some of the content is.
