3 of 5 stars  Sub-par Z movie...not the best, not the worst.

Dragon Ball Z: The Legendary Super Saiyan focusses mainly on Vegeta and Broly. It begins where Vegeta is approached by Paragus and told that he is the king of the new planet Vegeta. When the Z fighters (Trunks, Gohan, Krillin, Goku) head to the planet, along with the bumbling company of Oolong and Master Roshi, and begin to feel a Super Saiyan presence unlike anything they've ever felt before. They soon realize that Broly, Paragus' son, is the one with this awesome power, and that the entire new Planet Vegeta thing is a hoax.

I both liked and disliked this installment for a few reasons. One was Broly's voice. It just didn't fly with me. I mean, I was expecting it to be a lot deeper than it was, and he sounded pretty dumb when he powered up. Now if FUNimation would have gotten someone like Vin Diesel or maybe even a guy like Matthew McGrory to do S.S. Broly's voice, then he would sound much more like the brute that he is supposed to be.

Second, I absolutely HATED how Goku acted like a schizo-retard through the entire thing. I don't think he was serious for one flipping moment whatsoever. "King Kai, could you tell me which way is south?" Give me a break. Oh and the scene in the space pod, "Oooh, my stomach likes the echo, too. I'm hungry!" Bah. Goku acted way too stupid this time around, and my enjoyment of the film suffered for it.

Now don't get me wrong, there were many things I enjoyed about the movie, too. The action was pretty cool and the music went well with it. Also some of the humor actually was funny, such as when Roshi got sick on the way up to the fake palace. Also I liked Broly's look a lot, and the way he trashed the Z warriors was clever and kinda cool to watch, even though we're not supposed to cheer for the bad guy in a movie like this.

All in all, The Legendary Super Saiyan was OK but I liked Cooler's Revenge and Return of Cooler better.
