I remember watching this a long time ago, and it scared the crap out of me. I haven't seen it since, but I would like to see it again. The only thing that has been stopping me is people keep saying it is funny. I mean, are there funny parts to it, or is the whole thing just a dumb spoof. I don't really remember, and I don't want to fork out the hefty price for a dumb, unscary horror movie. What I remember of it, it was really damn scary. It had me hiding behind the couch with my eyes behind my hands. But that was years ago. So what is this movie more similar to, Night of the Living Dead(scary as hell), or Return of the Living Dead(a dumb, unscary spoof)? Thanks.

Do I really have to say how great this movie is? If you haven't seen it, you're missing out on a classic. If you found this page by accident and have no idea what Re-Animator is, rent it. If you love it, then you're one among millions of fans. If you hate it, then you clearly aren't a horror movie fan and you can go on your merry way. One of the best horror movies of all time. Period. Oh, and it's hilarious. Gore + Humor = Very Fun.

First things first. You can buy this movie in Best Buy or Circuit city for $15 second this movie is defeintly a classic and worth the money. Its gory and funny, a movie you wont get bored watching. There is not really much i could say about it, I like it as it is not my favorite movie nor is it in my personal top 10 list ( top 20 , YES ) but it is good and worth the money. Im sure if you are thinking of buying it you are obviousley a fan of horror and a fan of 70's and 80's horror as I am so IMO its worth it, definitly cool for a collecton, and its a movie that you willl be able o watch more than once cause i hAVE.

Re-animator is definently one of the greatest horror film of all time, if you haven't seen it then what are you waiting for BUY IT NOW. The film's story is based on a short story by H.P Lovecraft it stars Jeffery Combs as doctor West and Barbra Crampton as Megan who gets in a very comprimising and weird situation lol will get to that later.

Dr. Herbert West has created a green fluid that when injected in a dead body gets to be reanimated, as soon as he arrives back from Switzerland to Miskatonic University he starts to conduct some experiments with his partner dr. Kane on some dead bodies in the hospital morgue, in a very cool scene one of the corpses goes crazy and starts to bite of the deans fingers off. There are alot of gorey special effects that are just amazing since they didn't use any CGI computer fx like a talking decapitated head and alot of blood and guts get spilled in this film especially the massacre in the hospital towards the end will either make you laugh or leave the room in digust.
Alot of the violence is mixed up with humor in this film like which reminded my of the first evil dead, when the headless corpse is holding its decapitated head and gets down on megan who is tied to a table completly naked, you just have to see it unbelievable.

I suggest you watch this film as a double bill with dead alive but only if you have a strong stomach and if you have watched other horror films like the romero living dead trilogy.

Re-Animator has to be the best horror movie of the 80s next to Evil Dead. The movie has tons of gruesome special effect to spare with a classic scene involving a head and a woman. A nerdy scientist brings back the dead corpses with a neon-like liquid in a needle causing them to turn into zombies and then the fun starts when the scientist re-animates a dead cat and the cat comes back and that scene is hilarious and the classic scene with the severed head and the woman strapped to the woman is so outrageous that it is so hilarious. The gruesome stuff in the movie is a man's head is decapitated with a shovel,eyeballs being exploded,a dead man's head being peeled so you could see the skull. Though it is the best horror movie, it isn't really recommended for squeamish viewers. Also recommended:Dawn of the Dead(1978),Dead Alive,The Toxic Avenger part 1 and 3,Evil Dead 1 and 2,Zombie(aka Zombi or Zombi 2),and Basket Case.
