Product Description
Christmas with Yolanda Adams
Description
The queen of modern R&B-influenced gospel soul brings a typically updated approach to this, her first Christmas album. Although the singing is less intense and earth-shatteringly amazing than on last year's breakthrough, Mountain High... Valley Low--how intense can one be when singing "Little Drummer Boy"? Her take on "It Came upon a Midnight Clear" is so thick with slow-jam funk that it almost loses its way, but it never does, and is instead a highlight of this solid (although not superlative) disc. Unfortunately, this is mostly a set of secular shopping mall tunes. One notable exception is "Born on This Day," which drops a heavy choir funk vibe. And her take on "O Holy Night" is so truly transporting that it'll have you taking a cue from the song and falling down on your knees in thanks for the many blessings of the holiday season. --James Conde

5 of 5 stars  Glorious!

Her voice was made to sing Christmas songs. I purchased this album and it immediately became my favorite Christmas CD. Hearing her sing "The Christmas Song" when she sings "Merry Christmas to You" you can't not be filled with the joy of the season. Every track is exceptional. (second favorite Christmas CD: Nancy LaMott)

5 of 5 stars  Never Grows Old Excellent CD!!!

I've owned this CD since December 2000. You may ask the question. How come you just writing a review? My answer to that is hmmm...not sure. To start, I would like to say that i've enjoyed this CD since it's release in 2000. Every Christmas since then I can't wait to play this CD. It brings so much joy when I listen to it. It's very uplifting, and you won't forget the reason for the season (Jesus). I Love all of the tracks, but the standout tracks are "Carol of the Bells/What Child is this", "Born this day", "The Christmas Song" and Silent Night". To add, I think "Born this Day" will become a Christmas classic. I hope you enjoy this CD like I did.
Peace

Yolanda Adams' Christmas CD is simply beautiful. I love the arrangments of all the songs on this disc. I can listen to the whole CD over and over again. Her rendition of The Christmas Song is my favorite. You will not be disappointed with this album.

5 of 5 stars  Christmas With Class
Monday, April 07, 2003
You know a Christmas disc is good when you playing it in April! I was going through my mother CD collection and stumbled upon this one. My only dilemma was that her copy was damaged. My only solution was to buy my own, and I am proud to say that I am very satisfied with my purchase. What make this Christmas complication stand out it the combination of Jazz & Gospel. My only complaint is here weren't more songs! One of my favorites songs was "Joy Medley: Joy to the World/Angels We Have Heard on High/Hark the Hera." If you're looking for that "Perfect" Christmas CD to play for the holiday I would strongly suggest this one.

5 of 5 stars  Christmas with Yolanda
Saturday, December 07, 2002
I love this Christmas CD. Yolanda Adams has made wonderful gospel music for years and now she brings us traditional christmas songs with her own style of song and praise--this is truly a blessing. This is one for the christmas tree and every holiday season.
