Won-g does it againFriday, April 01, 2005
Won-g is an unknown rapper who has been trying to infiltrate the mainstream scene for years. He has a song that is "dedicated to Tupac Shakur" but they never knew each other. Many people reviewed this album but the reviews are not extant. I don't know why..but they were all negative ones. This album is garbage, just like his other ones. Won g lives in beverly hills, ca and he can afford to live there because he signs with independant labels. Independant labels allow artists to take big percentage of the album sale, unlike mainstream labels (e.g. aftermath/interscope). However, an artist signed to independant label (e.g. KOCH and SOVAGE) can't usually sell more than half a million copies due to lack of reputation and its marketing influence. A new artist signed to big name labels get 10~15%..so if they sell half a million (assuming that the label sells albums at $10 to warehouses) makes $500,000 (before tax). With SOVAGE artists get 30% (?) and that would be $1.5 Million for half a million record sold. Thus for artists who got no skills but wanna make money, independent is good. Obviously many good artists exist in the independent world but the numbers are small. IF you want to stop WON-G from living in BEVERELY HILLS do NOT SUPPORT WON G. If you do want to support him, go ahead. But I personally do not want his success simply because he lacks merit.
